Prins Willem Alexander Village
Many people of Dutch origin who have been living in Australia for many years like to spend their later years in surroundings that remind them of ‘back home’. The Prins Willem Alexander Village has been created to make this dream come true.
The typical Dutch ‘gezelligheid’ has been recreated throughout the Village. The architecture of the houses and buildings is inspired by the traditional ‘Zaanse’ style.
The Village provides 74 Independent Living Units, 44 Hostel (low care) units together with a 64-bed Nursing Home that incorporates both high care and dementia specific accommodation.
The Martin Jonkers Pavilion, incorporating the Hostel Nurses Station, main dining area, a library and amenities rooms, is used by Hostel and Independent Living Unit residents.
Just behind the Martin Jonkers Pavilion is The Tulip Room, which is used as the activities area for the Hostel residents.
Surrounding the Martin Jonkers Pavilion and the Tulip Room block are the 44 Hostel units accommodating those residents with low care needs.
There are 22 Independent Living Units at the front of the block as you enter the complex from Collingwood Road, 18 Independent Living Units at the rear of the block and another 34 Independent Living Units surrounding the entrance off Kensington Place. Behind the Nursing Home is ‘Flierman Court’, which consists of 14 Independent Living Studio Apartments.
Near the centre of the site are the recreation hall (known as ‘De Soos’ – ‘A Meeting Place’) and the Swimming Pool. De Soos and the Pool area are for the use of all residents.
The large building in the centre of the site is our 64 bed Nursing Home and Special Care Unit (SCU) for residents with high care needs and those living with dementia and related disorders. There is a Chapel on the lower level and our coffee shop, Café de Tantes, upstairs in the foyer.
Our team aspires to make the entire facility a friendly and happy environment, where each person may feel at home and preserve their independence and dignity.
